 Ingredients:

 I have taken Jhatka fish - 2

 Onion (chopped) - 4-5

 Garlic (minced) – 2-3 cloves

 Ginger (chopped) - 1 piece

 Green Chillies – 2-3

 Tomato - 1 (chopped)

 Turmeric powder - 1 tsp

 Cumin powder - 1 tsp

 Chilli powder – 1/2 tsp

 Salt - to taste

 Oil - 2 tbsp

Coriander leaves (for garnish) - some

 Method:

 1.  Fish Preparation: Clean the jhatka fish well and drain the water.  It will be very easy if it is fresh fish.  Then you can cut the fish a little, so that it is cooked well.

Preparation of masala: In a bowl, chop onion, garlic and ginger.  Chop tomatoes along with green chillies and keep aside.

Heat oil: Take a kadai or pan and heat oil in it.  When the oil is hot, fry the onions, garlic and ginger until the onions turn golden.

Masala Sauce: Once the onions are fried, saute the masala well with turmeric powder, cumin powder, chili powder and salt.  Then add crushed tomatoes and mix, cook till the tomatoes are cooked.

Fish cooking: Now pour the cut jhatka fish into the pan and mix well in the masala.  Stir the fish slowly so as not to break it up completely.  The smell of fish will also be good.

Adding water: Then add some water as per taste and cover the pan and let the fish cook on medium flame.  After 10-12 minutes the fish will be fully cooked.

Finishing touch: At the end of cooking, sprinkle some coriander leaves over there too and garnish with green chillies.

Jhatka fish is an important part of traditional Bengali recipes usually served with rice.  It is delicious, nutritious and also very easy to make.

Now, remember the days of missing Bengali house mother and enjoy your meal with Jhatka Fish!
